While working as a visiting nurse in Mercer and other Counties in New Jersey, Rebecca Lynn, founder of Ewing Independent Living, Lynn Developers and Rely Properties saw the need for affordable assisted living as none existed in her home town. This vision has finally become reality and Ewing Township is now home to spacious sustainable "green", accessible, affordable supportive apartments.
Ewing Independent Living (EIL) located at 1015 Whitehead Road Extension in Ewing is the new Energy Star Certified construction of a 72 unit “green” affordable independent apartment building for residents over 55 and developmentally disabled adults. The building contains 56 one-bedroom, one bath, and 16 two-bedroom, two bath apartments, all with a living room and a full handicapped adaptable kitchen. The building has security cameras and resident key fob access. In addition to the spacious apartments, there are staff offices, library, barber/beauty salon, common dining room, spa, wellness office (which can be used by the resident's own physician), and on each of the three floors are trash, recycling and laundry facilities.
This project encourages resident independence while having assistance available a la carte through the non profit corporation, Assisted Living Inc. Residents are encouraged to age in place with dignity and privacy, and remain safe in their new home using the a la carte on-site supportive services, along with government, private, and community resources. Trained and certified staff are available for residents who enroll in the supportive service program to provide companionship and supervision, assistance with bathing, dressing, grooming, ambulating, meal preparation, medication administration, answering the call bell system, housekeeping, and transportation to outside appointments.
EIL is a NON SMOKING facility constructed with sustainable resources using Energy Star guidelines and has solar power for common space electric. The building design provides two large courtyards, one open ended and one enclosed which contain raised gardens, bocce, and shuffleboard. EIL is located within walking distance of churches, community gardens, multiple retail establishments, and public transportation.
Income limits do apply as this is affordable housing. Please consider EIL as an option for you or a family member who may qualify, someone who wants to remain as independent as possible, meeting new friends, perhaps even using some of the available on-site supportive services, without the responsibilities of home ownership.
